As the lines between school and home have blurred, guardians also play those roles in supporting their child with hybrid or distance learning. Teachers in school and families at home are looking for resources to communicate with their students and children about the world around them. Now more than ever educators and students understand the need to prioritize well-being and self care as they navigate intense emotions, anxiety, and stress. In this edition of Edu OnAir, Jennie Magiera, Google's Global head of Education Impact hosts Pedro A. Noguera, Ph.D., Dean of Rossier School of Education at USC, and Lori Woodley, President and Founder of All It Takes in a discussion about the importance of social emotional learning for students and educators in building a pathway towards resilience.

Through her multi-platform arts and social impact collective ARRAY, filmmaker Ava DuVernay has launched ARRAY 101, a new online education initiative delivering dynamic social impact Learning Companions for ARRAY’s films and television content. In this session, educators will hear from our partners at ARRAY and The Ron Clark Academy on how to foster understanding beyond the screen while using the ARRAY 101 learning companions. ARRAY 101 learning companions are now available on the Google for Education Teacher Center. Educators will also get inspired with new ideas from other educators who are incorporating culturally responsive content into their everyday curricula. Optional pre-work will be emailed to all participants in advance of the session. Parents, guardians, and learners of all ages are welcome to attend.

On Tuesday August 25th and Thursday August 27th we hosted an interactive two-part series where we heard from Dr. Marc Brackett, director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence and author of Permission To Feel, and Jennie Magiera, Google’s Global Head of Education Impact as they discussed research-based strategies to support your own and your students’ well-being, healthy decision making, relationship quality, and healthy emotion regulation.
